Halong Bay is very rich in seafood as it offers tons of shrimps, fish and oysters annually. The caught seafood served in most restaurants often comes right out of the fishing boats in early morning.
Cha Muc (Squid Ball – Squid Cake)

Halong Squid Ball is well known not only for Vietnamese but also for international tourists. The main ingredient is, of course, squid. However, not any kind of squid can make the dish as wonderful as Halong Bay's freshly caught squid. The dish, hence, will get the sharp and appealing tang. The crunchy yet chewy texture, juicy taste and attractive aroma of Squid Ball go well with boiled rice, sticky rice or Bánh Cuốn (a type of thin, steamed rice cake). This darling is sold at many stores and stalls around the city and especially at Halong market.

This unparalleled drink is a local culinary delight of Halong. Made from a kind of glutinous rice that solely Halong has, Hoanh Bo soaked rice wine tastes sweet and sour. It requires experience and gentleness to produce this wine. Rice, without being ground, is cooked through, and incubated. Then, people soak fermented wine into a special leave of Hoang Bo forest, which helps to differentiate
Apart from lobsters, squids, Halong has a less expensive food but sharing the same appetizing taste: Sea Snail. Sea snails vary widely in breed and cooking process; and fried sea snails with chili sauce seems to be the most common.
